Job site analysis is a three step process.
First:
Proactive
data is complied from employee survey or informal interviews,
observations and any written log of injuries or complaints. Problem job
are videotaped for detailed analysis.
Next:
Critical analysis
is made to identify risk factors of the job task, activities, work flow,
physical environment and individual performance. This may include
heights of lifts, bends, reaches, chair and desk adjustments, position
of keyboard and mouse, repetitions and force used to perform task,
awkward posture or conditions present. This step will also
identify improper work habits or techniques and poorly conditioned
workers which will increase potential injury.
Lastly:
A review with
management will include recommendations and discussion of elimination or
accommodations for each risk factor
Our recommendations reduce worker discomfort and fatigue, increase
job satisfaction, improve worker performance and productivity and
therefore reduce future injuries. In the end, each
employee is SMARTER, working SAFER and the corporate goal
of an INJURY FREE workplace is well established.
Functional Job Descriptions
A practical job description is developed for each job, based on observations of each of the tasks performed for
that job. Each task is broken down into measurable components of
sitting, standing, kneeling, reaching, bending, etc. In addition,
risk factors (i.e.: repetition, force, awkward posture) are measured for
each task. A written report and chart is completed to accompany
each job. This can be utilized in the hiring process to identify
qualifications and applicants' accommodation needs. It is also a
useful guide in developing goals for returning an injured employee
to work.
We also are experienced with updating CA-17 and SF-78 government
forms. We have developed an addendum to the CA-17 which allows for
a more precise quantification of job tasks. This has been used to
provide better communication and coordination with employer and
healthcare provider.
